The Hunters' Mark: Oradia

Setting: While still within one of the villages out in Oradia, the vampire hunting trio arrive to find their mark. However, it's met with resistance.

 Ivo, allowing his mask of composure to slip as he leans against the SaGa's tiller, heaves a heavy sigh, allowing the vessel's slight and peaceful sway to lull him slightly. Their ship is nestled in the nook of a small islet hidden in the tangle of tributaries that make up the serpentine Oradian river they traverse, less docked and more wedged into the uninhabited patch of jungle where they might find some respite.
 "And here I'd hoped," he murmurs, "for some coffee."
 Their departure from the banana plantation had been about as chaotic as their time spent there. Instead of being lauded as heroes for dispatching the Monkey King conducting his fearsome primate raid, the party was forced to scatter as the guards obsessively interrogated everyone in the vicinity in search of banana thieves who had taken advantage of the tumult. Worse still, the brutal way in which Madonna had felled the ape had sickened some of the (non-vampire) wealthy patrons, such that Ivo found himself, floundering, offering as a compromise to take the desecrated body out of their sensitive sights.
 "Instead," he says, "we've got this."
 Said body of the Monkey King now lies upon the deck, a single fly buzzing noisily around it. Ivo looks, for once, at a loss. At least he managed to retrieve everyone before fleeing... he thinks.
 Plus, Daiby got soaking wet jumping into the river, so it's not all bad.



 "Ugghh... finally out." Reize approaches the group, hanging his head low as a stream of tears flow along his eyes.

 It had been some days that Reize was missing.

 When the party had to scatter, Reize took Ruidosa for a date. It was one of the few times that they got a chance to just enjoy a serene time together. Well..

CHIBI THEATER
Reize: It's peaceful.
Ruidosa: Reizey~! <3
Guard: Reizey~! *hand over shoulder* We are the police, come with us.
Reize: Buh?!
Guard: Eyewitnesses recognize you as the Kingpin of the Banana Thieves...
Reize: Whhhh---?!
Guard: *GLINT* Jail. *cuff* >:(
Reize: NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! Q_Q

 After his arrival back, he looks worse for wear. He looks over towards the body of the monkey. "Eh?!" He jumps up, recognizing the body, "That is still around?!"

 

Madonna is here. She looks pleased with herself and is powered by monkey blood so she has a crazed look in one of her eyes. Twitch twitch. Ruidosa La Crima sighs and crosses her arms. "I won't help you." she tells Madonna. "This is your wheelhouse."

"Fine, whatever!" says Madonna. "I don't need your du--help anyways!" she says. As if catching herself from saying something uncouth. Madonna raises her arms and begins the chanting, raising her arms. "Ia ia ia ia...!" she oommands.

Everyone has seen this before, at least the ones who we're at Tranquila making an undead crab. Uh oh.

Ruidosa stands back, curiously with Ivo and now rests back against the boat. "Sorry about my older sister. Also sorry she's so so blazingly hotter than my mom and wearing a distracting bikini as she performs necromancy." she says bluntly.

Maybe a soak and wet Diaby would be helpful and distracting Ivo right now.

Look she can care for Ivo! Probably. Maybe.

She looks over to Reizey and waves him over. "It is. Madonna has. Ideas." she says bluntly. "Did they question you too roughly?" she asks.

"Does the bikini help with the necromancy?" asks Daiby, from her seat in a deck chair. She has positioned herself, rather specifically, upwind of the increasingly problematic Monkey King corpse.

One of her snakes, this one a mid-sized black and green fellow, has hoisted up in his (their?) coil and is currently watching that fly. Insectivorous snakes! What a twist! (Not a very big one.)


 Ivo, of course, remembers the undead crab saga all too well. It's all fun and games when you're materializing the imprisoned specter of the most delicious giant crab in the world again and again in perpetual hellish torment to make bank off of hungry tourists, after you defeated it with the help of a giant robot capybara, but when a secret society checks in on you because they're suspicious after you brought peace and prosperity to an ancient city and then finds out, they'll kidnap your leader and get you marooned on a deserted island.
 ...When he spells it out like that, it sounds a little ridiculous.
 "You..."
 Ivo might have had something to say to Rui. He might have even had something to say to Reize after he was jailed. But instead, all his thoughts and troubles alike seem to float away on the breeze as he sees Madonna begin her dark and depraved ritual, one with which Tranquila has made him all too familar.
 "...have no reason to apologize."
 He gently places a hand on Rui's shoulder, nods once with a now stoic expression, and steps forth, approaching Madnona with a look of resolve and resilience. It's time to put a stop to this.
 "How may I assist in your ritual, my Mistress?"
 Where 'this' means Ivo not being of service to the heartstopping bikini-clad Madonna, of course. He kneels at her feet, prepared to handle any menial task, however disturbing or dire.
 "Bikinis help in all things," he announces confidently to the reclining Daiby.
 So his lingering 'Go, Go, Ivo!' side quest implies, anyway.



 Reize takes a moment to take in the sight of Madonna conducting a ritual. His expression becomes a frown as he recalls the very things that Ivo is very likely remembering as well. The young explorer approaches Ruidosa and he shiftily looks at each side, "...Hopefully no ancient tribes or anyone plan to kidnap me again." His antenna hair flops as he hangs his head low, "The deja vu is hitting hard."

 At Ivo offering his assistance to Madonna, he has a large sweatbead over the back of his head. He looks over towards Daiby and approaches her direction. He asides to her and the snakes, "...Should we let Ivo continue like this?"

 

Ruidosa gives a sideways smile at Ivo as he places a hand on her shoulder. "Everything will be fi----" and then Ivo goes and kneels at Madonna's feet and she facepalms. Of course he's going to go help her raise an undead monkey. of course he is, because she's blazingly hot.

Madonna looks down at Ivo and says. "Rise." she commands. Is she speaking to Ivo or the Monkey!? Ivo. Because she's still chanting.

Ruidosa looks to Daiby and sighs. "We raised an undead crab once for profit and fortune. My sister did it. I don't practice this. Madonna is doing the thing. Don't worry. She's powered by Monkey Blood."

Madonna says to Ivo. "Get me the lounge chair. And the fan." she says. Oh god she's gonna make Ivo fan her probably. Maybe she'll make Ivo wear the thong even.

Okay she hasn't commanded that yet.

Instead, she continues chanting as red energy engulfs the beast and strange energies flow from Madonna to the Monkey as she mutters and incantation, something horrible and horrific that might drive people insane if it was uttered too loudly!

Rudisoa sighs. "I wonder if she's gonna make the monkey her new butler."

(Yes.)

She looks to Reize and sighs and hugs him tight as he reminisces of the island adventure. "Everything is fine. Just. Let him be Ivo. He's probably hoping for a date. He might get it at this point." she whispers to Reize.

She sighs a little. "Hopefully this goes to plan. She's better at this than Tranquila." (Who is hot okay but not so blazingly hot/sexy like Madonna clearly is.)

Daiby (and the snake) turn their attention towards Ivo as he approaches, nears, and stands upon the verge of saying something critical. Perhaps they're interested. Maybe Ivo's tongue is so skilled that even his critique can feel like a compliment...

But it doesn't even go to there. "Oh, Ivo, you're so silly," Daiby laughs as she scoots herself upright rather than laying pancaked and passively absorbing the energy of the planet's yellow sun. (Editor's note: We assume it's a yellow sun, anyway.)

She does lean over to confer with Reize: "I'm not certain we could stop him," she says to the boomerang master: "But I'm just amused by the simple fact that -- well --" She leans over to say it *very* quietly to Reize: "Normally you have to get /married/ to have a mistress!"

Meanwhile, Mr. Bug-eating Snake slithers out of the way of possible rituals even as Daiby looks at Rui and Reize with a benign smile. She even gets up and gets out of the way -- let Madonna have the deck chair! These aren't *her* relatives with whom she has complex psychodramas. Those people aren't here at all.

("An undead crab...? Did you animate it more like a zombie or a skeleton?")


 Could Ivo hear Daiby's astute observation, he might conclude that the answer is straightforward: simply marry Daiby and have Madonna be his mistress. Problem solved! Everyone's happy.
 At least, Ivo seems perfectly happy obeying his new orders, hastening to retrieve the voluptuous vampire's lounge chair, trying to pick it up and the fan in one go and grunting as he carries it step by step towards the site of the ritual before he can place it down. Actually, now that Madonna seems to be traveling with them, how much luggage *has* she brought? At this rate, he might want to check and make sure that the vessel's cargo doesn't exceed its weight limit.
 Well, it'll probably be fine. Much like this ritual to ghoulify the jungle's most powerful monkey. That will also probably be fine. And Reize's risk of being captured and/or jailed during their next encounter.
 His being captured and/or jailed is also fine. Happens all the time, really.

Ruidosa is glad Reize didn't get jailed forever. She'd be cross and it'd ruin date day. And cause a time paradox.

Meanwhile Madonna sits down, lays down and continues her ritual, laying down, raising a finger in the air as if conducting as an arm raises. Then the other, of the monkey! Before the entire beast floats upwards on it's back and energies continue.

"I am hot. It is humid. Fan me." she commands. yeah she's... gonna make Ivo fan her. Because hot thong guy isn't here and is probably being beefcake guard elsewhere in the whole bananas debacle. Probably not wearing the thong at least.

She doesn't make Ivo wear the thong at least. T...thankfully?

Ruidosa imagines this. And she quickly BLECHS and and shivers and tugs Reize over. "Reize, I just had a mental image of Ivo in a thong. If Madonna makes him wear one, we're leaving." she says.

Daiby gets a look and she leans over. "Ghost actually." she whispers to her. "It was spectral. Tranquila is. Not the best, but we have ghost crab meat now it's amazing we can keep killing it and it comes back! Imagine the terrible fate!" she says. "It's delicious." she says dreamily imagining the crab dinners. She misses crab.

Maybe fishing soon is in order for jungle crabs. That exist. Okay.

(They don't live in trees either.)

  Reize's expression sours at the sight of the necromancy on the monkey. He really does have a bad feeling about this. Upon Ruidosa's hug, the young explorer relaxes. "...I hope so." He rubs the back of his head, looking a bit uneasy."

  Daiby's explanation about mistresses gets a blink from Reize. Then, he finds himself musing over a few things. ....However, he quickly dismisses that thought with a large sweatbead.

 Ruidosa's comment of departure concerning Ivo in a thong is met with two quick nods. Mm-hmm!

 The current shenanigans do not go unnotice from those outside of the group.

 There is an off-shot voice from the distance.

 "As expected, the vampires are up to their dark deeds. Nice to finally catch them in the act."

 THEME CHANGE: Premonition of Turmoil - Mitsuo Singa (Ys X -Nordics-)

 It is off the corner of the hill that there are a trio of individuals standing. The center of them is a man with blazing red hair and a rough looking outfit. His eyes appear steely yet his face forms a grin. Behind him is a darker-skinned man who is cladded in cloth along his face and head through a turban. There is also a fair-skinned woman with a long-bow and a gentle demeanor.

 The man, Rolf, cracks a grin, "I've been looking forward to seeing you again." Pause. "...This is Reize, right?"

 Kiyomi and Owai instinctively look to their left and right, as if looking for something... to avoid?

It would certainly be something to get a marriage proposal to resolve and immediate social ambiguity. Still (Daiby would say, if asked) people have gotten married for worse reasons. She blinks several times, even as Ivo moves into a service role, stepping over to reclaim her little snakey buddy.

"Ohhh," Daiby answers. "You know, ghost meat is very low in calories, relatively speaking," she remarks to Ruidosa, even as --

Someone is greeting them from shore! Daiby turns to call to them, sing-songing while waving one arm, "Hello~!" The snake she'd just scooped up seems less sanguine about this entire situation, though Daiby does ask Ivo/Reize/Ruidosa/the Monkey King corpse, "Are they friends of yours?"


 Ivo, for all his gallantry, may never have fanned a lady in his life, unless at some point Daiby asked him to, in which case he has. But he is not especially experienced, is the point, and that does not matter, for inspired by Madonna's peerless presence, he fans with aplomb, even outdoing her previous servant. He has surely gone on to a better place, with all the bananas he can eat.
 And, listen. Ivo may not be wearing a thong now, but you all just wait. As long as Madonna is wearing a bikini, he's going to roll a nat 20 on the 'looks good in a thong' roll and you'll all eat your words.
 "It so happens," he is saying to his companions all the while, tilting his head to speak to them even as he assists with Madonna's ritual, "that mangrove crabs are said to live in a grove not far to the east from here, in a land not far off from our anticipated route." Ivo grins at Rui. "I am always gathering useful intelligence for us."
 That's actually kind of thoughtful. Too bad he wasn't thoughtful enough to make a Perception check for ambushers instead of making a Fanning the Hot Vampire check instead.
 "...Oh?"
 Thus it is Daiby who notices the vampire hunters first, Ivo turning the other way as Madonna continues her dark work, still fanning, to regard the trio with a blithe expression.
 "You... were from the marshes by the La Crima mansion, yes? Haven't you learned your lesson? These people do nothing to warrant your persecution."
 He sounds indignant, even displaying a hint of righteousness, as right behind him, horrific things happen to the remains of the Monkey King.

Madonna... continues her incantation as interlopers appear. Ruidosa looks from Reize to them as she grows worried. "Vampire Hunters!? Here in Ordia!? How'd they get in!?" she splutters out. Probably 'by boat', but she doesn't answer the obvious question for folks. She means how'd they pass customs , etc.

"Oh Hunters?" asks Madonna. She might had asked Ivo into a thong. IF hunters didn't appear. We can blame them for that. Or thank them for that.

Ruidosa frowns. "You people. Have a lot of nerve coming to the homeland. Do you have a deathwish?" she asks curiously.

Madonna continues her chanting, the Monkey King starts to twitch. Something is happening. And it'll happen shortly. "Please handle them while I handle this. If I stop it may. Get messy." she exaggerates a little for the sake of everyone. She doesn't wanna explain that the it might 'explode'.

Which is also messy.

"Reize. Get ready." she whispers as she digs out her book.

"I'm gonna make your lives miserable. You don't have a hostage this time." she sputters at them.



 Reize looks up at the gang with a frown. It's them again, isn't it? The boy turns to face the trio. "... You again?"

 Rolf gives a wolfish grin, "Damn right! I've been looking forward to fighting you all again." He then points an index finger towards Reize, "Especially you. Something about fighting you gets my blood bo---"

 "--Anyway, we are here because we see the descecration of life going on." Kiyomi approaches the group, withdrawing her bow and manifesting a glowing light that shapes into an arrow. "We have seen enough to where we must exterminate you."

 Owai quickly draws his daggers out, closing his eyes as he murmurs a low prayer. His eyes re-open as he looks at the group with a steely gaze.

 There is a casual shrug from Rolf as he considers the group, "Normally, I'd like to settle the score with the kid, but..." His eyes narrow towards Madonna. "I have a score to settle with this witch moreso." There is a guttral rage stirring from him as he manifests a glowing flame. "I've wanted nothing more than to cover your body in flames." His eyes dart towards the group, "However, if you all want to be in the forefront." He cracks a grin, "I'm ready for a fight!"

 Owai, "...Just as long as the Black Beast isn't here."

 Kiyomi shushes with a panicked look, "Do not mention that name, you idiot, lest you summon him here."

 Reize finally answers Daiby, "They're not friends... enemies, in fact. We will need to take them down."

Daiby gazes at the vampire hunters.

She blinks once.

There's a long pause even as the snake on her arm is lunging for cover behind a capstan. At the end of it, Daiby asks Reize, "What??"

Then she dives for cover herself! How many snakes can she bring to bear for this one?

"Gasp! Not the Black Beast! They know of the Black Beast, Ivo!?"

Ruidosa La Crima rolls 1d20>=10.
Comment: Resist laughing her ass off.

Ruidosa La Crima opens her book and gets ready to fight....

"Miserable cretins. I'll..." then they mention the Black Beast and she squints.

"Did... you all..." she squints some more. and then she starts laughing. and laughing. "YOU PEOPLE MET THE BLACK BEAST. I BET YOU ALL... CONFUSED HIM FOR REIZE YOU DUMBF**KS!" she starts laughing and laughing and falls down and starts rolling on the ground, instead of attacking or getting ready to attack.

"NO WONDER YOU ASKED IF HE WAS REIZE. YOU HAD TO BE SURE SURE!" she laughs as she yells and starts laughing so hard she starts coughing and hacking and trying to catch her breath.

And she doesn't even need to breathe as a vampire.


 Ivo, not pausing his fanning for even a moment lest Madonna experience even a degree of temperature variation from what she prefers, glares at the trio of vampire hunters, his expression serious as he looks to the panicking Daiby.
 "They do indeed," he grimly says. This must, of course, refer to the legendary night anaconda said to dwell in the depths of the Oradian jungle, emerging only under cover of a new moon to devour all who dare breathe its name. How, then, did works of history record its existence? Obviously, they just wrote it down without saying anything aloud.
 He is reaching for an elesphere in his pocket, moving slowly and subtly, preparing an improvizational technique that should help to cover Madonna, if only momentarily, so that she might complete her totally fine and not at all profane ritual. But he pauses as Rui, well, collapses into hysterical laughter.
 Maybe the psychic damage alone will be enough here.



  The fact that 'Black Beast' is brought up raises a concern to the young explorer. Considering the last encounter was less than favorable, his eyes widen and he blanches, "Wait, he's here?!" This isn't good. Considering the last encounter, Reize is very well aware that his relationship with the Black Beast is that the older youth will attack him on sight.

  Rolf gives a grunt as the Black Beast is mentioned admist Ruidosa's laughter, "... We made a bit of a mistake."

  "You dumbass, it's because of your idiot accusation that the bastard put us 'on sight'. Kiyomi snaps at Rolf.

  Rubbing the back of his head, he grimaces, "...A'ight, yeah, that was my mistake. They ---" he almost about to say 'look alike, but there is a condition that forces him to wince and stop himself from that slip up. Worst case scenario, Black Beast would walk in.

  Rolf gives a grin, "Either way, now that we know it's you, we feel better about punching you all." He looks towards Ivo and Ruidosa. He looks directly at Ruidosa and then Madonna. "This is my lucky day." His hands light with flames, "I get to burn the two people that I hate the most."

  Reize immediately draws his boomerangs out, "I won't let you! Everyone, prepare to take them down!"

"Rui, did you eat one of their children or something!? This man sounds really intense!" Daiby calls plaintively, even as she reaches up and draws several small jewel-toned snakes out of her... hair? Are they just always there? (Do you want to know the answer to this question?)

Daiby looks down and gazes at the sapphire eyes of a snowsnake, who was actually hiding in *shade*, not exploiting Daiby's abundant warmth. The snowsnake flicks its tongue.

Daiby sighs, and shortly thereafter...

A barrage of icicles and slush flings out from Daiby's position!

Ruidosa continues to laugh as she rolls along the ground. "AHAHA IT'S TRUE. I bet he beat you all over Granse and I bet you left just to get away from him!" she giggles intensely as she finally stops laughing and stands up and wipes away tears. She finally reopens her book as she gets it from the ground and huffs.

"Oh dear. Screw you all to hell. Just because we're vampires doesn't mean you get to kill us and most certainly not HERE in Ordia. Where YOU are the affront!" she says angrily as she manages to stifle another laugh.

She finally throws a bolt of dark energy at the group.

MEANWHILE Madonna finally is drawing to the end of her incantations slowly as she leans up in the chair and sweats a little as the Monkey King turns to land on it's feet. It hasn't moved yet, it's dead gaze glazed over still, eyes lulled back in it's head still.

 Ivo has his priorities in order: as the battle commences, seeing that Madonna is beginning to sweat, he intensifies his fanning to ensure her maximal comfort and, secondarily, the success of the ritual itself. But as it last seems completed, he turns his attention to the lesser priority, the violence now ensuing, and sees his friends going on the offense. Ivo pauses to admire Daiby's unusual technique, making sure to consider its utility, drink-related and otherwise, in the future, and then sees that Rui's art is going awry. Perhaps she has not yet recovered from her bout of laughter, or perhaps the necromantic energies swirling about Madonna are distorting the effects of the Destruction domain manifest in the vicinity. Whatever the case, Ivo is confident that he can handle this with the method he had planned.
 Striding forth, big frond fan in one hand and green elesphere in the other, he cracks the marble-sized orb to summon a gust of wind that ripples about the proximate fan, preparing to swing it mightily in a manner briefly imbued with magic, sure to intensify Rui's bolt and put it back on course. Or at least, it would, if he did not walk straight into the bolt instead and promptly get knocked off the boat and into the water with a splash.
 ...Madonna wasn't looking, was she?

 As the battle takes an early start, Kiyomi prepares her arrow onto the bow, nocking the arrow along the bowstring and pointing towards Ruidosa. However, the icicles from Daiby gives the archer the icy receptiont that appears to be well-deserved. She lets out a cry of pain as she is driven back.

 Owai lets out a frown and prepares his knifes. "Of course you would fail. I'll show you how to incapitate them." The icicles strike him, wiping him back and he lets out a hiss.

 As the dark energy is flung towards the group, Rolf leaps forward and he brings his hand out to grasp at the energy. Even with Ivo setting it back on course, Rolf grasps the dark energy with a hand and he extinguishes it with his -black flames-.

 "...You think that can do me in?" He gives a menacing smile. "I've been looking forward to this." His eyes narrow at Madonna, "...Especially you." Rolf immediately rushes towards Madonna.

 ...At least until Reize attempts to intercept the vampire hunter. "Oh no you don't..." As Reize is leaping forward with a rising kick---until the boy is clotheslined.

 "OUT OF THE WAY SQUIRT!" Rolf hisses after clotheslining Reize while is making his way towards Madonna.

Ruidosa throws out a darkling bolt, and does NOT throw out a storming denial of eating anyone. Daiby takes mental note of this, if in a fair-minded way -- and there are bigger problems afoot as Ivo ends up plummetting into the water after unleashing a storm of wind.

But then! Reize is going to intercept. And he's thrown away!

The only one between him and Ruidosa's older sister is... a bunch of thin air. But Daiby does have one last desperate thing she can do.

Try to tackle the vampire hunter? Are you insane? He has a lot of sharp pointy things, and getting staked in the heart will kill anyone. No, Daiby looks apologetically at the snow snake in her hand.

The snow snake blinks once, somehow, despite having no eyelids.

Daiby then hurls a small and potentially *exotically* venomous snake at Rolf on his way in.

Ruidosa La Crima winces as Reize splashes into the water and then get clotheslined and she breathes deeply. "I'm sorry, Reizey!" she yells as she looks back up to Rolf and watches as Daiby let's a snake bite him. Good. He hopes he foams at the mouth and dies.

Ruidosa doesn't complain about eating everyone because uh. Look she's a vampire. She still needs blood. Madonna through finally stands up on the chair. "GIVE ME THE POWER I BEG OF YOU! RAISE MY DONKEY. KONG.!" she yells as the Monkey suddenly looks down and then back up as it suddenly ROARS to unlife!

The Monkey King jumps through the air and comes down with a sudden resounding shockwave, trying to cause the group of hunters to scatter into seperate individuals.

Ruidosa follows up by running forward and trying to engage the darker skinned man with the daggers, forming a shadow energy blade and yelling "FALCATA!" as she swings.

 With a great sputtering gasp, Ivo at last emerges from the river depths, his dark hair plastered to his brow and eyes wide with shock. Having walked into the path of Ruidosa's dark bolt and been hurled into the waters for his trouble, one might hope that the impact would have served as a much needed reset for thoughts led astray by Madonna's tempestuous whims. He certainly looks more alert as he begins to swim to the side of the Romancing SaGa. But, troublingly, he still holds tight to the palm frond with which he had fanned the bikini-clad necromancer during her ghoulish ape-reviving ritual.
 Perhaps he does not even realize that he is doing so as, feeling as if he had been submerged for a month, Ivo effortfully pulls himself up to peer over the side of their ship and take stock of the melee. Bracing the hand clutching the frond against the vessel, he reaches with his off-hand for Hauteclare's hilt, finding his sheathed sword still fortunately at his side. Even amidst chaos, Ivo has become practiced at assisting Reize from opportune angles and is of course Daiby's devoted servant, knowing well her fighting style. His earlier fumble aside, he even knows how to cooperate with Ruidosa when the chips are down.
 "Alright," he murmurs, "I'll admit it."
 But he can only stare for a moment at the ongoing battle, at a loss at to how to intervene as the revenant Monkey King goes on a rotting rampage on deck, besetting their vampire hunter foes.
 "I didn't anticipate this."
 You were assisting with the whole process, Ivo.



  Owai flicks his daggers once again to his side, staring at the group to assess who should he focus on. Since neither Ivo and Reize are of immediate concern, that leaves Ruidosa, Madonna, Daiby, and...

 Wait, a giant monkey?!

 "Spread back!" Owai hisses out to the group, instead a cry from the three pierce the air as they are flung by the shockwave. The flash of sundered ground tears into them with a kinetic force and debris, sending them all sprawling back.

 However, of the group, Rolf manages to stand his ground. He is skidding back, but his feet press firmly on the ground with a hiss. "...Okay monkey man, I'll take you down, and then that one is---" Before he could finish, the snake is flung at Rolf... and bites him. "Gaagghhhhhh!!!" He grits his teeth, dropping to a knee. He takes a deep breath and erupts into a loud roar before launching at the Monkey King with a haymaker to its face.

 "We need to prioritize----gh...!" Owai brings his daggers to immediately react to Ruidosa's cutting shadow energy, but the shadows slice at his arms. He grimaces, then he throws smoke around to enshroud him. ...Only to immediately maneuver to sneak behind Ruidosa with both daggers slicing at her back.

 Kiyomi is slowly pushing herself up, noticing the snake woman who lobbed icicles at them. She pulls out an arrow and nocks it along the bow. Both arms risen, she steadies herself and launches a rapid volley towards her and the snakes.

  Meanwhile, Reize is climbing up onto shore, looking drenched and exhausted. "Uggh..." It'll be a bit before Reize can get back into the swing of things. He is staggering back to his feet.

Having thrown her snake, Daiby's hands are free - she moves towards Ivo, reaching out, aiding as best she can. She isn't a big aid-er. She isn't even terribly experienced at fighting -- only the memories of Cosmopolian childhood martial arts defense, as well as her traveling collection of exotic serpents, have brought her this far.

But she reaches out even so; a hand to grasp Ivo's own, and help to pull him up. She smiles for a moment, even as there are crashing, smashing things. She smiles at Ivo.

It's like it's just them for a moment.

And the snakes.

And the rampaging necro-ape.

And the guy throwing all the knives. "Oh," Daiby says, turning her head, pursing her lips as she sees a snake-woman raising up a bow and then nocking it. She steadies and then she throws herself down on the ground, on her belly, like a snake!

"Wait! If this is about them, they're with me willingly! I treat them well! Isn't that right, everyone?!" There's a chorus of hisses, in part from her hair, some from nearby pieces of residual deck furniture. Daiby frowns slightly and addresses a broken plank, "I *know* they aren't live, but--"

Daiby thumps on the deck several times! (Snakes often don't have great hearing. Or any hearing.) To whatever she spoke of there, she calls out, "I know I'm asking a lot of you, but the third time pays for all. I promise!" And that white snake leaps! (ish) free of Rolf, sinuously wiggling in the air for additional air-time to try to land on Kiyomi and BITE HER TOO.

"Ahahahhahaa, GO MY MONKEY, KILL THOSE THREE!" Madonna commands in her bikini as she points at the group of hunters. She then takes a sip of something from the cafe that's nearby the Romancing Saga where they landed, something into a coconut with a little umbrella. Yes, she can enjoy this now as her RAMPAGING NECRO-APE does all the work.

Ruidosa winces. "Hey don't KILL THEM, they're banished, they're being sent back again!" she says. Wait is Ruidosa sticking up for these losers, what is she thinking!?

"AND THEY CAMD BACK, SO DEATH! DEATH I COMMAND!" yells Madonna.

"You're not in charge..." she says, eyes narrowing but saying that under her breath, before she follows more louder. "LOOK WE CAN KILL THEM LATER AFTER WE TIE THEM UP!" she says as she looks at Owai and oh is he a puff of smoke now. Where did he go!? Ugh! She tries to sense where he is, but she's never fed from the jerk so she can't smell his blood to follow. Instead she gets daggers in her back as a payment and yelps, backing off, and turning around as she flings a dark bolt into the area behind her, hoping to catch him before he can do that trick again.

The monkey is now on a rampage in general. Maybe it's after that lead guy.

 Despite everything, Ivo seems to relax a moment, riverwater dripping from him to form a puddle beneath his feet, as he shares a smile with Daiby. Unthinkingly, he continues to hold the hand that has taken his, squeezing it slightly as he maintains lingering eye contact. He never imagined that she would join him on their adventures. But then, he never imagined he himself would have adventures such as these before meeting Reize and friends. As he reflects on how far they've come together and, perhaps, where they've yet to go, the world about them seems to sparkle dazzingly.
 Or is that just the glinting of all the knives being thrown?
 Ivo at last relinquishes her dainty hand as he crouches, not quite so flexible as Daiby as she goes full snake and hits the deck. Her movements are reminiscent of the style of languid stretching said to be practiced by some religious groups here in Oradia, he thinks in his usual idle way. He'd like to see her practice that. Perhaps another time.
 "She surely does," he concurs with Daiby's exclamation, defending her care of her serpent friends. "I can testify to that."
 He sounds a little distracted, which is for the best, as it implies he's actually thinking things through. Ivo casts a sidelong glance to Reize as his friend also emerges similarly drenched, clearly considering a battle re-entry team-up of sorts, but abandoning the idea when Rui comes under attack. His split-second assessment is that while Rolf tangles with the monkey, Reize is likely to come to Rui's assistance against Owai, and thus that his best bet in all this madness is--
 "Allow me to assist, sweet Daiby!"
 When Daiby calls upon her heroic snake friend to strike once more, it may have difficulty finding its target in this melee, but Ivo can still exploit whatever distraction it causes for Kiyomi. With a single smooth motion, he draws Hauteclare, releases the blade from the hilt, and sends it hurtling forth, with no elemental infusion to call attention to its swift blurring advance, darting past flailing limbs to plunge towards the archer-- aiming not at her body but at her bowstring, to seek to snip it and thereby disarm her.
 The question is not if he has sufficient dexterity or situational awareness for such an impressive feat, which he does, but if his renewed focus can endure the tempting sight of the scantily-clad Madonna languidly reclining. What appeals is the aesthetic contrast between her opulence and the battle, you see. It's art.

  Kiyomi is quick to notice the poisonous snake flying towards her to bite her as well. However, she quickly catch the snake with her hand and gracefully set it down. "Run along now..." She gently tells off the creature.

 The smokescreen allows Owai to anticipate Ruidosa's dark bolt, slipping out of sight away from the trajectory of the blast. He is going to take advantage for another piercing strike---

 -- until he finds himself on the receiving end of a dynamic re-entry by the boy with the long yellow scarf. Reize bolts in through the mist with a spinning kick, followed by using the momentum to grab Owai and swing him out of the mist.

 Kicked out of the smokescreen, he takes the moment for a new battle assessment. "The odds are against us right now." Owai admits, looking towards Kiyomi. The numbers and the sheer force of support are against them.

 Kiyomi sighs, "As much as it pains me to admit it---" She notices the soaring dancing blade approaching her bow. She proves to be dextrous as she spins the bow around, pushing Hauteclare's blade away from the bowstrings. "--you're right. Let us retreat..."

 Rolf growls, wincing at the venom seeping in. "No no no no! I see this monster that I need to kill!" He points towards Madonna, "That wretch hiding behind her guardian! I'll rip its heart out and she's next!"

 Kiyomi snaps, "We're outmatched right now!" We move!

 "....Damnit!" Rolf admits his defeat. "Cover our escape."

 Owai then produces a larger smoke to cover the surroundings, which would give the group a chance to retreat.

'We can kill them later after we tie them up!' calls out Madonna; Daiby's eyes cut to her with her lips pursing. It's true, after all, but she shouldn't say it like that!

The rampaging is continuing but at least Rui and her mother are both with us, thinks Daiby. That's good. She stays down, stays low. People yelp and scream. She doesn't look over - it sounded like Rui - who can probably get knifed a little more than, say, she herself. At least Ivo's safe and mostly unstabbed!

As for the snake, they land on the deck and look confused. Tongue flicks out. Looks around. Doesn't seem to go anywhere. Are they looking at Kiyomi for advice...?? "Pss! No!" Daiby suddenly frowns, even as the snow-snake returns to her. Or starts returning. Daiby throws out an arm. Please don't cut it off, she prays, my mother-

BUT: HAUTECLARE OUTTA NOWHERE - swing! Sparkle!

Daiby blinks several time, still on the ground.

"Shoo! Get out of here!" Daiby says (from the deck), raising her other hand and shaking it, fistlike. That's right, jerk!

Ruidosa watches them retreat. She is apt to let them retreat. Let them run away in fear of the Donkey King!.. Whatever this thing is her older sister made. Madonna is too busy reveling in bloodlust to let them go and the monkey tries to tangle with Rolf.

This is a problem now.

Ruidosa tried to let them run so instead she.... TRIES TO SHOVE ROLF INTO THE WATER.... not to be humiliating, but to try to give him a chance to escape. "Uhhh... TAKE THAT!" she commands as she tries this. Even if she shoves him out of the way or away it's good, right?..... uh right!?

 Ivo contributed to the show of force, and really, that's what counts, clearly. He is at least sufficiently attentive such that he can resummon Hauteclare's blade back to its hilt without sending it careening into anyone else amidst the dissolving chaos, though his gaze keeps being drawn back to Madonna as if by some additional force of gravity. His lips purse as he thinks, seeming to weigh his words. Could he be considering an admonishment, of all things, against the bloodthirst of the vampire mistress? Or perhaps instead the value of such ferocity as their foes flee as swiftly as they attacked?
 His gaze eventually leaves Madonna, surely with difficulty, to look to Ruidosa -- who seems fortunately not too injured after the attack upon her person -- and then to Reize, before sinking onto to one knee to reach for Daiby's hand and, this time, be the one to help her up, when at last danger appears to have passed.
 "Well fought, everyone," he says. Sure, more or less. "Under the circumstances, I think we would be well served by practicing our coordination with the lovely new addition to our ranks."
 He glances at the ghoulish ape, leaving it ambiguous as to if he means Madonna or is making a deadpan joke about the *new* new addition.
 "Most of all," he muses, "we must achieve discipline before the most potent of our powers..."
 And here his thoughtful demeanor dissipates as, looking back to Madonna with eyes now ablaze, the hand not reaching to clasp Daiby's clenches into an uncharacteristically impassioned fist.
 "Bikini-armored combat!"

  Of the three vampire hunters, Owai and Kiyomi were able to retreat safely. There is a mixture of stubbornness and atrophied condition that keeps Rolf from successfully making it out unscathed. Ruidosa's attempt to save him from the Monkey King's onslaught ends in failure as it appeared that the I.D.E was already too quick. The hand smacks Rolf across the cheek and the sheer force sends his body sailing.

  Team---Rolf is blasting off...! *DING!*

  Reize gives a cheerful smile, raising a fist in victory. "We did it!" He gets close to Ruidosa to lift her up in his arms. "We fended them off!" He looks over towards Madonna and the Monkey King.

  "You two helped out tremediously! We appreciate you!" Maybe Madonna isn't too bad for a sister-in-law? ... Though, the trying to kill them is a bit concerning. He is a bit on edge.

 

A Deep breath, hopefully that trio is okay? Sure, they're... trying to kill her and kidnapped her sister one time but maybe they shouldn't ''die'' for it? Ruidosa takes a cleansing breath and closes her eyes. "I see the ritual worked." she says, looking at the Necro-Monkey King.

Madonna laughs jovially. "My best work! Anyways we didn't kill them, that makes me sad, Ivvvvvo~ Please get me another drink?" she asks, tossing the empty coconut over her shoulder somewhere into the jungle.

Rudisoa sighs and looks at Reize. "Reize. I hate it here right now. Do we even have room for this .... thing .... on the ship?" she asks. She means the Monkey.

"Maybe it can be summoned...." she says scratching her head. Oh god, the undead stench. Ew.

Baptize that sucker, Ruidosa! Now he'll never see you again after you die! wait

Daiby pushes herself up on her elbows and looks round the deck, mostly for errant snakes. Rolling to the side as she pushes up, she cradles the recovered snowy-snake against her bosom, even as the quiet begins to return.

"Oh thank you," Daiby says to Ivo, as she pushes up to stand with a little huff and a sweep back of her hair.

BEFORE--

"Oh yes, I DO need to learn to fight properly, don't I?" Daiby answers on the question of learning the ways of Bikini-do. Blink blink. Her eyes turn over towards Reize. Who is appreciation. After this, turned back to Madona, she says, "Not every conflict has to end in blood, you know. What matters is--"

Oh yeah.

Daiby looks back at the dead, zombie ape.

"... We'll need to perfume him or something like that," Daiby muses. She looks at the snow-snake, who despite having an immobile face due to being a snake, seems mildly incredulous: 'the fuck you asking me for, boss?'
