Royal Adventure: The Golden Truth (Part 1)

Scene details

Setting: The Star Chasers take the young Prince Constatin on his first real adventure. Exploring the depths of the Pits of Avarice, they encounter the skeletal merchants that overwhelm them by numbers....

Log

Deep beyond the hillside exist a place where the earthen scars have landed on the earth in an old tale of a gold rush. A legend left behind as a sign of caution to those who would fall into the taste of greed. The bleak ugliness is prevalent as the dark scars of the earth left a large, dusty tunnel. The occasional signs of artifacts left behind show the tale of the human greed leading to a traveling group's doom.

This place was also used as an alleged dating spot, but that's neither here or there.

Arriving deep into the entrance, Reize stops to talk about the place. "We originally arrived here in search of the Cruxis. From what I remember Ivo telling me, the history is that merchants came here during the gold rush, all of them traveling to Oradia."

The young blond haired boy starts following the group, covered with a large, glimmering forcefield that projects out. The energy resonates a strange pulse, as if to ward off any intruders from getting into proximity. "This place was off-limits due to the lives lost here." Constatin looks thoughtful.

Reize grins, "Likely true, but we followed Ivo's tracking device..." And thankfully the protective measures are put in place for the prince, "In order to find an artifact that would help us on our adventure."

Constatin also raises a hand, "...Didn't you also take your... ahh... fiancee on the date here? Overheard my big sister gossiping with my friends about a boy making a 'stupid mistake'."

"Errr, nothing to worry about, young prince!" Reize is now sweating completely."

> "ALLEGED!?" says Ruidosa, as she beats up the narrator. So unlady like!

Ruidosa La Crima follows along, unamused, as she tsks. "I bet grandfather had something dumb to do with it. Even if tertiary." she says as she looks around the dusty tunnel and closes her eyes.

"I so dislike this place." she said as she peeked ahead and followed along.

"At least there's no minecarts to ride." pause.

"Don't ride minecarts." she warns the young prince.

Then she eyes the small point. "Yes. Nothing. to. worry. about." she says, straight faced. :I

Anna cannot see in the dark.
She has thusly brought something very important.
It is a torch. Torches are important for adventuring in the dark places beneath the earth.
"What's this about a mistake?" She asks holding the torch aloft to light the path, before looking to Rui.
"I won't." Ride the minecarts, she means.
This, naturally, means that if opportunity rises... Anna will likely ride the minecarts.

Reize glances back at Anna, his expression appearing more alarmed as he studies Ruidosa. He is taking into account that Ruidosa does not like the place. However, he suggested this place as the first part of the adventure in order to 'get it out of the system' and covering the fact that it was one of the important areas that they traveled to.

This also may have involved getting on both hands and knees while pleading with said person in order to get this as their first route.

 "N---nothing important, really!"

Reize grins at Anna, noticing that she has the torch. "Anna is very astute!" He offers a grin, "It helps to be prepared for a journey-- so if you find yourself going into a dark place, always have some source of lighting." He muses, holding out a small rod, emitting some light.

There is also an understanding nod with Anna. Always ride the minecart.

The presence of the mine is dark, a few shaft are seen, rusted weapons with dried blood, a few skeletons lying on the ground. The path beyond even reveals a track further ahead. However, there is not a minecart in sight. The tunnel does appear to be paved, offering a straight path for people to explore.

"We should start getting ready. We cleared this place, but we're stepping in where the residents will give us their 'welcome greeting'."

Ruidosa La Crima knew this whole route was gonna come sooner or later, so she chose sooner rather than later. Still. "I don't need light because I see in the dark." she says bluntly as she taps under her eyes and smiles.

She opens her book as she looks at the pages and sighs. "I'm getting ready." she says as she looks at the track and then shoots Anna and Reize a 'look', she said, ''don't ride the minecarts!''

...they're gonna be riding minecarts, probably. >:I

Ruidosa also looks at Anna and blinks. "R..right. Nothing important!" she answers Anna, after Reize. Dodge the question and never answer one ever again!

Anna certainly has no idea why Rui would give her a look! She certainly has no intention to ride the mine carts.
If it comes to that, it'll just... Sort of happen.
Passing by the skeletons and rusted weapons she does look to the young prince furtively, checking to make sure he's alright as the group progresses. This place is kind of spooky.
"Huh... If you say so?" Nothing important then. Clearly.

As the group passes by the lying skeletal bodies, there is a moment of silence before a brief flash of light appear in their sockets. Three of the skeletal bodies start rising from their placement, two on one side while the last is on the other side. Those skeletons raise their arms, brandishing an axe and daggers.

Hearing the lumbering crackle of bones, Reize turns around to see that the skeletons have risen. "Guh! Looka live, guys! It looks like they're ready!"

As soon as the group turn around, three more rise the same, this time theyre brandishing hammers and pick-axes. Those three give an aggressive screech as they charge ahead.

The prince, taken aback, draws his sword and holds it out in front of him. He's visibly shaking while preparing to take a charge. It is a good thing that the projected barrier is protecting him.

Ruidosa La Crima can hear and feel skeletons rise. She sighs and takes an exasperated breath that is for show more than anything. She doesn't need to breathe afterall, as she mutters. "Lesser undead are such a bore!" she calls out as she points her finger at one and then cups her hand and fires out a standard dark blast as she assumes she doesn't need much more omph than that.

"Anna, these should go down easy." she motions to the group going for the prince.

 'Look alive' Reize says.
Anna looks at the rising skeletons.
"Reize. They're not alive at all." She points out blandly.
Nevertheless the Suryle princess unslings her axe in one hand, using the other to hold the torch aloft.
She doesn't even feel the need to get angry for this as she lunges in to protect the prince, swinging her axe more like a cudgel than a cutting weapon into the nearest skeleton to try and shatter its bones.
